After serving 3 years with the Marines in the South Pacific during WW2, I got my first job in a small art studio on 42nd street in NYC where they illustrated comic books and taught me how to "ink-in" backgrounds and "clean-up" the pages with white paint which eventually led to drawing and inking my first comic, a romantic love story. Being newly wed, this was an exciting time for me and my wife, Vivienne. We both had jobs, an apartment on 51st street, and a baby on the way!

Then everything changed abruptly with the start of US Senate Hearings on the violence and sexual content in comic books. This caused quite a fall-out in the industry, there was much less work, studios and some publishers went bankrupt, and it became time for me to look elsewhere for work to support my growing family. This became my entry into the advertising business where I spent the next 40 years learning the trade of layouts & renderings, typography & photography, and magazine & newspaper ads to television commercials.

In 1973, I co-founded my own advertising agency, Margeotes Fertitta Inc., and where I spent the next 20 glorious years as the head Art Director with a staff of over 70 people where we serviced clients as Godiva Chocolates, Remy Martin Cognacs, Maserati Automobiles, 4C Foods, Kirin Beer, Orrefors Crystal & Celentano Foods.

I retired in 1990 and have occupied my retirement years creating my own graphics and paintings. The thrust of my creative efforts has varied from exploring the human condition, the many frailties of man, and to the everyday objects that surround me.
